Earthworks
For the construction of foundations the Civil Engineering division
has its own sand dredging facility, rubble dump and crushing plant.
From
this depot the materials are delivered to the site, along with the
required product certificates, using the company's own up-to-date
means of transportation.
The division also has the latest in earthmoving and measuring equipment.
Projects are normally based on using any surplus soil etc. on site,
but if this is not possible, the company takes samples of the soil,
assesses its quality and removes it to an approved location for
reuse
or to a processing plant. Ooms Construction is also a shareholder in
Grondbank West-Friesland. The Grondbank West-Friesland is involved
in the
acquisition,
collection, certification, quality control, management and sale of
extracted soil, sand etc. and secondary building materials suitable
of reuse.
Hydraulic engineering
The Civil Engineering division has had many years of experience in the
construction of coastal and bank protection works. On the island of
Texel, for example, the division takes care of all the maintenance.
The range of services includes:
|
- Sealoflex®: a modified bituminous
binder for durable asphalt concrete constructions reducing reflective
cracking, fatigue and rut formation up to 50% compared to conventional
asphalt
- GlasGrid®: a (self adhesive
glassfibre) reinforcement system that reduces the overall thickness
of the pavement and prevents cracking when applying a new surface
- Novachip®, Microville®,
Safedress®: ultra-thin asphalt layers;
- Road Energy Systems®;:
asphalt concrete constructions used as solar energy collectors.
Management and maintenance
In addition to products that increase life span, the division also has
special systems that enable the life span of pavements to be predicted.
They calculate precisely when maintenance work will be required. An
important factor in these calculations is the acceptable deformation
or cracking threshold. One of these systems is the SERPEM® analytical
model. There are other programs available besides SERPEM® for determining
the mix of asphalt pavements, including:
